Job Description

The QA Supervisor is critical to the success of producing and releasing high quality product. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising a team of QA Line Inspectors and Leads who inspect product, perform in-process testing, and oversee documentation of manufacturing processes.

Primary Areas of Responsibility

  • 1) Supervise QA Line Inspectors and Leads
  • 2) Maintain daily records by reviewing and signing quality in-process documents.
  • 3) Execute/monitor quality checks to ensure that required specifications are being achieved.
  • 4) Follow procedures related to sampling, inspections, and analysis.
  • 5) Assign employee tasks to achieve high quality product.
  • 6) Reject any raw material that does not meet the established specifications and provide recommendations to dispose of said product or return to supplier with a complaint.
  • 7) Determine disposal of substandard product i.e. Animal feed, reprocess, product hold for further testing.
  • 8) Lead plant GMP audits with internal cross-functional teams.
  • 9) Certify the finished products with certificates of assurance for quality.
  • 10) Assure the healthiness of the products though sanitation of the plant and testing for microbiological analysis.
  • 11) Train personnel in both Quality Assurance and Production in manufacturing process controls.
  • 12) Assist with Complaint investigations regarding in-process testing performed by QA.
  • 13) Communicate with Production and Management on process control methods.
  • 14) Ensure safety measures are being observed by all personnel on the production floor.
  • 15) Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds, 4 feet high, without the aid of another person.
  • Must be able to sit/stand for up to a full eight hour shift in the performance of job duties
  • Must be able to climb (up and down) up to 10 feet high, for up to a full eight hour shift in the performance of job duties
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, push, and pull in the performance of job duties
  • Must be able to use fingers bilaterally and unilaterally
  • Must be able to work in various temperatures and environmental conditions
  • Must be able to maintain amicable work relationships with fellow employees and perform all essential job functions in an environment that will sometimes include increased work levels of work-related stress

Education and Experience

Knowledge in Food Technology, Quality or Food Safety Management System

Knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices and HAACP

Previous supervisory experience (Preferred)

Previous experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (Required)

Fluent in English and Spanish (Preferred)

Must be able to work assigned shift
