This position will be responsible for helping coordinate Transportation and Logistics activities, including managing in transit delays with the carrier and the customer, assist in any 3rd party warehouse needs. This role is also responsible for, but not limited to coordinating with management, sales, warehouses, customers, and the carrier to resolve and implement new processes.


The Logistics Specialist must be self-motivated and action oriented. This role is responsible for working with multiple departments/facilities within the organization. Additionally, the Logistics Specialist will coordinate, assist, and support the Warehouse Team with the following assignments:

  • Identify and correct obstacles during from the time an order is uploaded to our carrier until it delivers.
  • Demonstrate complete understanding and ability to operate in house ERP and computer systems. Not limited to: Microsoft word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Receive and respond to Customer Service or Carriers requests, and questions not limited to: tracing outbound shipments, obtaining proof of deliveries, and pulling 3rd party BOL’s and processing them in Deacom.
  • Present solutions for potential problem areas and strive to exceed customer and company expectations.
    • Assists in the development of policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure quality and cost control. Collaborates with associates to improve efficiency, productivity and processes.
    • Conducts distribution and network studies, monitors inventory, and analyzes requirements to develop strategies to achieve desired delivery times and order fill rates.
      • Maintains appropriate records and prepares reports.
      • Be an active team member, offering assistance wherever needed, re-prioritizing work to accommodate more immediate customer or departmental needs. Be available and willing to work overtime, and be at work every day, on time.
      • Communicate professionally at all times, maintaining an positive attitude towards the Company, the Customers, the Brokers, Co-workers and all members of Management.
      • Communicate to your manager any unusual situations which may affect the company or the completion of your job in an effective and efficient manner.
      • Perform work under minimal supervision.
      • Handle complex issues and problems and refers only to the most complex issues to higher-level staff.
      • Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group.
      • May act as a lead or first-level supervisor.
      • Carry out “Good Manufacturing Practice” to ensure a safe and clean work environment.


      • High School Diploma or equivalent minimum
      • Warehouse & Shipping experience
      • Inventory Control experience
      • Knowledge of logistics and transportation procedures.
      • Understanding of lot codes and traceability
      • Experience with forklift and related warehouse operations
      • Proficient with PC Microsoft Office
      • Possess good writing, math and oral communication skills
      • Must be dependable and able to work flexible hours, including weekends
      • Ability to withstand high stress situations and meet demanding deadlines.
      • Must be capable of effectively and calmly communicating with co-workers and/or management
      • regarding instructions, needs and/or conflicts, and work in a fast-paced, sometimes highly stressed
      • Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds for short distances, stoop, bend, kneel, walk have full dexterity and correctable vision.


      • Familiar with and understand the responsibilities of handling food products for human consumption experience a plus
      • Familiar with Transportation related activities and terminology: BOL, POD, Scheduling of Appointments
      • Computer and Microsoft Office Knowledge
      • ERP system experience
